Flowers | 2021 | Canon EOS M50

In our society, flowers represent many concepts and feelings. We use them in celebration, as a sign of love, as a welcoming gesture, and when mourning a loved one. These simple plants can create and speak words that, sometimes, people cannot express. This idea is what prompted me to explore and dig deeper into the various meanings of the flowers. Through my work with these flowers, I explored happy, bright, and darker feelings. After collectively examining my work over the semester, I chose these ten photographs to express the process of healing in various ways.

These photographs were taken as I reflected on my college years living in La Crosse. While thinking about both good and bad times, I captured my most cherished spots throughout the city. These locations, although just places for many, represent my memories, passions, and the individuals I spent my time with. This city will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope this series displays the true beauty the city holds.
